Recent media reports have raised many concerns about the safety and use of polycarbonate plastic and epoxy resins, unnecessarily confusing and frightening the public, this luncheon is going to help ease our anxietys and answer many of the important questions that we have as mothers.

We will learn all about BPA that has been most recently found in our children's bottles, formula and sippy cups! Dr. Natalie Geary, one of NYC'S top pediatricians will discuss:

* bisphenol-A (BPA), an estrogen-like compound used in shatterproof, polycarbonate baby bottles, that poses a risk to brain development in babies and children. Studies of newborn animals showed low doses of BPA cause structural changes in the brain that trigger learning deficits and hyperactivity

* which bottles and formulas are safe?!

*what does it mean to look for numbers on the bottom of the bottles?

* is there a reasonable alternative to limit BPA exposure to our babies/children?!

* will explain what BPA-free bottles mean and what we should be using to feed our children with

There's no magic age at which children are ready to start learning how to use the potty, but some develop the necessary physical and cognitive skills between 18 and 24 months of age. Many parents don't start potty training until their children are 2 1/2 to 3 years old, when daytime bladder control has become more reliable. And some children aren't interested in potty training until they're closer to 3, or even 4.

With more than 20 million toys manufactured in China recalled for lead paint and other hazards recently and some children being hospitalized after swallowing the magnets of recalled toys - a lot more parents are looking carefully at what they buy and where it comes from. But it is not easy to find many exceptions to the rule that most toys come from China. What are we as parents supposed to do? Where do we draw the line between cautionary and crazy? When a Mattel toy is recalled for having lead paint, should they avoid just that toy, or all Mattel toys, or all painted toys from China, or all toys from China? How do I protect my kids from lead poisoning? When should I get my child tested for lead and how do I go about doing this?
What are the actual risks of lead poisoning? How is the lead in my child's blood measured?

It probably seems like just yesterday that you changed your toddler's first diaper, and now you're wondering if it's time to start toilet training. There's no magic age at which children are ready to start learning how to use the potty, but some develop the necessary physical and cognitive skills between 18 and 24 months of age. Many parents don't start potty training until their children are 2 1/2 to 3 years old, when daytime bladder control has become more reliable. And some children aren't interested in potty training until they're closer to 3, or even 4.

Patti Sayer is a licensed social worker and school psychologist. Patti has her own private practice on the Upper East Side, where she conducts parenting groups and workshops. Most parents of infants understand that night waking and feeding is simply part of the job. And yet, when baby is born, many parents are shocked at how deeply they are affected by sleep deprivation. Furthermore, many parents are equally shocked to discover that night waking typically lasts well into the toddler years. It always seems that your neighbor's kids slept through the night at an incredibly early age and yet you can't seem to get your child to sleep for more than 4 or 5 hours at night without waking up at least once. You've obviously done something wrong and sleep deprivation has driven you to seek some expert advice. So you head to the book store and buy every single sleep expert book you can find--only to find that nothing really works for your child. You're already losing sleep. . .before you loose your mind consider why your child might be waking up and formulate a plan that addresses his needs. Join Divalysscious Moms and babies/tots at Litte Shop of Crafts where we'll be decorating and painting mugs, picture frames, and or hearts for a LOVED ONE! The perfect handmade gift to show a “lil” love for either daddy, Glam-Ma, Grand-pa, Aunts, Uncles, Babysitters or Teachers. Each child will also make a homemade Valentine’s Day Card to go with their gift*Gifts will be given to tots & moms

We invite you to join us at our new Divalysscious Moms breakfast series. These breakfasts have been created as a way to prepare expectant 2nd and 3rd time moms for a new arrival at home w/a toddler or baby. It's also an avenue for 2nd and 3rd time moms to meet other new moms to discuss the challenges of now having 4 (or 6) sets of hands to take care of, manage new schedules, naptimes, mealtimes, play dates and other various activities for the growing family. These breakfasts will also address "toddler topics" that are so important for every parent/ family - what to do about sibling rivalry, tantrums, sharing, hitting, nap/bed times, crib/beds and potty training. From the best in nutrition, fitness, psychology, layettes, what toys and accessories we will need the next time around will be featured at each breakfast.
